If you had the chance to spend three days outside with free food and drinks, wouldn’t you take it?
Each year Mittera partners with the Principal Charity Classic and we get to do just that. The first thought that comes to mind when someone thinks “Principal Charity Classic” might be golf. But there is so much more to this tournament than just watching professional golfers in respectful silence.
For those unfamiliar with the event, The Principal Charity Classic is an exciting, family-friendly event that contributes greatly to the economic vitality and quality of life in Central Iowa. The tournament raises money for Iowa non-profit organizations supporting children. Since 2007, this event has raised nearly $10 million to Iowa children’s charities.
This is a chance for our team at Mittera to get some face time with customers in a non-work related environment. No boring meetings. No press checks. No deadlines. Just some good food, drinks, sunshine, and golf.
Mittera’s suite on the 17th green is the place to be, with food and drinks provided for anyone who received tickets. Last year we handed out over 400 tickets to our clients to share in the day’s enjoyment. This also gives our sales team a chance to reconnect with customers they haven’t seen or spoken with in a long time.
The Principal Charity Classic also gives Mittera a chance to network with other local companies as well. We hand out Mittera koozies with our name and logo on them to our guests at the event, as well as social media cards. The Principal Charity Classic is also a great opportunity for sharing our social media posts that our clients’ followers will get to see.
One of the best parts doesn’t even happen at the event— it’s the many thanks we receive afterward.

An attendance record was set last year, with 83,389 fans flooding through the gates at Wakonda Club. That means we had over 80,000 people walk by and see the Mittera name displayed outside and inside our skybox suite.
Having the opportunity to treat our clients is one of the most enjoyable things we get to do here at Mittera. Sure, we’re there to answer any questions a person might have about the services Mittera offers, but we’re also available to explain in detail why Caddyshack is the greatest golf movie ever created. Whatever our clients want to discuss you can bet we’re ready to listen.
Last year we topped out with a little over 400 tickets handed out, but this year we could be aiming for even more! Keep an eye out for us this year at the Principal Charity Classic, June 6–11.
